second time around

Screen Shot 2014-12-07 at 11.39.49 PMI was so excited when Second Time Around approached me a couple of weeks ago about collaborating with their 176 Newbury Street location. Not only do they have a ton of new, in-season pieces from designers like Helmut Lang, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Acne, but they also have amazing gently used pieces that never go out of style. When the holidays roll around, I’m a little more cognizant of my spending and make an effort to set aside some money for a few of my favorite causes. With that said, budgets can be a little tight, but my desire for all things high-end far from fades. That’s where STA comes in! With countless holiday parties, a need for layers, and any other excuse you come up with to shop, they make budget friendly shopping chic — meaning you can get that designer New Year’s dress of your dreams and donate to your favorite charity without breaking a sweat!

After being a shopper since 2007, I was stoked when Second Time Around had me come in to pick out some of my favorite finds from the racks for their first “Styled by…” collaboration. While I would have loved to snag everything for myself, I left the goodies for fashionable Bostonians and Newbury Street visitors alike on my own rack! Head there now to see my favorite looks for this season, and to add your own twist on my personal style!

Collegiate

Fall weather is upon us in Boston, and I figured it was about time to break out the knits that I have been lusting after all summer. There’s something so unceremoniously chic about New England autumn style, that makes even the least preppiest of fashionistas want to bust out some tweed and tartan print. With that in mind, I snagged an old collegiate favorite out of my closet, my J. Crew tweed skirt, for a an updated spin on a back to school outfit. Shooting in Harvard Square seemed equally as appropriate, and I fit right in with all the stylish university newcomers floating from coffee shops to class.

I ‘edged-up’ the outfit with a pair of rag & bone mules and black chevron nails to keep the look from going too Cher a la Clueless. There’s nothing quite like a classic Chloe carryall bag to balance out the palette with cool shades of light purple and gray, and it was a great finishing touch to this (almost) too-cool-for-school outfit.
